PLANET Technology, a leading global provider of IP-based networking products, has received the Gold Award for Sustainability Reporting in the '2022 Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards' for its effort on actively and continuously promoting the ESG performance, and transparency disclosure in the company's sustainability reports.
Organized by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy, the 'Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards' is one of the benchmarking awards to recognize the outstanding achievements and contributions of enterprises in the practice of sustainable development, ESG and the United Nation's 17 SDGs (sustainable development goals). PLANET participated in this award selection for the first time with its "2021 Sustainability Report" this year, and was granted the honor of winning the Gold Award, which affirmed the company's good practice of corporate social responsibility via complete disclosure of its ESG performance with high reliability. Also, the company well engages with its stakeholders through various communication channels and the stakeholders' opinions are fully reviewed and responded.
Since 2011, PLANET has voluntarily published its sustainability report annually. The company passed the first verification by an independent third party for its 2020 sustainability report complying with the AA1000 AS (2008) Type 1 moderate level accountability and the "Core Option" of GRI Standards. In 2022, in addition to AA1000 AS and GRI Standards, the company's 2021 sustainability report has also been in accordance with the SASB (Sustainability Accounting Standards Board) standards. Meanwhile, the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) framework was also followed in the report. All these actions on information transparency have helped increase the company's competitiveness in line with the trend of sustainable investment globally.
Adhering to the spirit of altruism and sustainable development, PLANET strives to eliminate the climate change risks strategically to maintain continuous business operations in response to climate change mitigation and adaptation. In the aspect of information security, PLANET has obtained the ISO 27001 Information Security Management System certification and the IEC 62443-4-1 industrial network product security development system certification in 2022. To reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the company will complete the supply chain greenhouse gas inventory in 2023 and reduce product carbon footprint by 2025. At the same time, PLANET has implemented the "Good Air and Happy Farm Life in Taiwan" program which integrates environmental protection organizations, enterprises, government and farmers to assist farmers in decomposing rice stubble with decomposing bacteria instead of burning it in order to reduce carbon emissions and air pollution. In 2022, PLANET brought in 77 companies to participate and pledged a total of 4,100 hectares of rice fields in Hualien and Changhua counties in Taiwan to help reduce carbon emissions by about 36,900 metric tons, creating a sustainable environment and exerting substantial influence.
